COLORBOND SHEDS
A COLORBOND shed is a steel building clad in genuine BlueScope COLORBOND steel — pre-painted steel manufactured in Australia for Australian conditions. Global Sheds supplies COLORBOND sheds as engineer-certified kits, designed to order and engineered to the wind region of your address. We supply kits only — we do not build.
Every kit ships with site-specific engineering drawings you can lodge with your council, and our designs are ShedSafe accredited to the National Construction Code. COLORBOND steel has been tested in harsh Australian conditions for over 60 years, and is backed by BlueScope steel warranty.
What is COLORBOND steel?
COLORBOND steel is a pre-painted steel product made by BlueScope in Australia. The paint system is baked onto a zinc and aluminium alloy coated steel base, which is what gives it corrosion resistance and colour that holds up under Australian sun.
It is not a coating applied after the shed is built, and it is not a generic painted steel. The difference matters, because imported look-alike products use thinner base metal and inferior paint systems that chalk and fade far sooner.
What COLORBOND colours can I choose from?
The contemporary COLORBOND range runs to 22 colours. You can specify different colours for roof, walls and trim, so the shed either blends with existing buildings or stands apart deliberately.
Colours shown represent actual product colours as accurately as possible. We recommend checking your chosen colour against an actual product sample before purchasing, as screens and devices vary.
Lighter colours reflect more heat and keep a shed noticeably cooler in summer — worth weighing up if the shed will be a workshop rather than storage. Some councils restrict colours in heritage or bushfire overlay areas, so check before you finalise.
What types of sheds do you supply in COLORBOND?
Every building we supply can be clad in COLORBOND steel.
How do I know I am getting genuine COLORBOND steel?
Genuine BlueScope products carry branding printed on the reverse — the non-visible side — of the sheeting. Look for COLORBOND on cladding and GALVASPAN on structural framing.
If a supplier cannot confirm they are using genuine BlueScope product, or there is no branding on the reverse of the sheet, be cautious. Imported steel sold as equivalent is common, and it frequently fails to meet Australian Standards or attract any meaningful warranty.
Global Sheds uses genuine Australian BlueScope steel throughout. No imports, no substitutes.
COLORBOND or ZINCALUME — which should I choose?
Both are BlueScope products with the same protective alloy coating. ZINCALUME has a metallic silver finish and no paint layer, which makes it the more economical choice where appearance is not the priority — common on inland farm sheds.
COLORBOND adds the baked paint finish and the 22-colour range. Choose it where the shed is visible from the house or the road, where you want it to match existing buildings, or where you want a lighter colour to manage heat.
If you are within a kilometre of salt water, ask us about COLORBOND Ultra, which has enhanced corrosion protection for marine environments.
